Wetlands are crucial links in a watershed, and contribute to the health and stability of entire
ecosystems. They have been called “nature’s kidneys” because of their filtering
ability, and “nature’s supermarkets” because they are so productive. Many plants
and animals that live in wetlands cannot survive anywhere else. The following links will offer
more information about these important places and why and how they can be protected.
