Public Education Coalition

Fire Education Coalition The Cache Valley Fire Education Coalition (the coalition) was created in 2005 by joining the public education efforts and dollars of several of Cache Valley's Fire Departments. These departments are currently Logan, North Logan, Smithfield, Paradise and The Cache County Fire District.

Firefighters feel that the best way to fight a fire is to prevent it in the first place. Seperately fire departments have limited time and money for public education, but together the coalition is able to support community programs such as CERT (community emergency response teams), advertise fire and seasonal safety tips via radio, newspaper and movie theater advertising and comingle ideas on how to prevent fires from starting.

In Logan City three full time Logan firefighters have been assigned to spend some of their time as Fire public education specialists. These specialists meet with neighborhood councils to solicit help from the community and to see how Logan Fire Department can help each community. These specialists teach classes on fire safety, fire prevention, fire extinguisher use and give demonstrations. Because of a grant specialists can provide smoke detectors to citizens that cannot afford them. They even install them for those in need.
