Burn Permits
Open Burning in Logan City
(Burning of weeds, trees and other yard materials.)
Logan City does not allow open burning within the city limits, except for the Irrigation
Companies. Between March 15 and May 30th and again between September 15 and October 30th, the
Irrigation companies may request an open burn permit to burn the weeds and other vegetation along
the canal banks. Permits will be issued by Logan City and the Irrigation Companies must comply
with the regulations set forth on the permit.
Any exception to this policy must be granted by the fire chief only and are generally only granted
for extraordinary or special circumstances.
Recreational Fire and Pit Permit
(Permits will need to be renewed yearly.)
The term Recreational Fire Pit is the burning of materials other than rubbish with the total fuel
area 3 feet or less in diameter and 2 feet or less in height used for pleasure, religious,
ceremonial, cooking or similar purposes.

Recreational fire shall not be conducted with in 25 feet of a structure or combustible materials.

Fire pit shall be lined and is to be kept clean or coals and ashes.

Buckets, shovels, garden hoses, or a fire extinguisher with a minimum 4-A rating shall be readily
available for use at the fire pit.

A person knowledgeable in the use of the fire-extinguishing equipment shall constantly attend
recreational firs.

An attendant that is alert at all time shall supervise a recreational fire until such fire has
been completely extinguished.
Permits shall be issued by the Logan City Fire Department if the property meets all of the above
requirements.
There is no charge for the permit and it is good for one year.
