Karl Ward
My name is Karl Ward and I would like to represent the citizens of Logan on the City Council. I
was born in Montana but my parents moved to Hyde Park when I was a child, and except for a two
year LDS mission and 2 years of military service, I have lived here ever since. After high school
and serving a mission, I found and married my sweetheart Kathy Misener, a proud native of Logan.
We have raised six children in this beautiful valley and are now reaping the blessings of fifteen
grandchildren.
Below is a brief summary of my background.
- Earned both bachelors and masters degrees at Utah State University.
- Served two years active duty in the Army and six years in the National Guard.
- Career as a banker (Zions Bank - 34 years). Presently Senior Vice President over Commercial Banking.
- Served 12.5 years on the Logan City Planning Commission - 5 years as chair.
- Served as precinct chair, county delegate, and state delegate.
- Adjunct Professor at USU teaching finance courses.
- Board of Directors, American West Heritage Center - finance committee.
I am making the choice to serve because I want to do what I can to ensure that our community remains on firm financial footing. There are some city budgeting concerns that need to be addressed and the council needs people with a strong financial background. I also want to continue the work to help all areas of the city be family friendly, attractive, and safe, but with as little government oversight as possible. At the same time we need to be business friendly. Forbes magazine recently ranked Logan as the 4th best small city in the nation in which to do business. That says something about us.
I love Logan and want, like you, to keep it an idyllic place to live. That is why I choose to serve.
