RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes resources including personnel, equipment, supplies, use of facilities, media for the purpose of delivering community youth programs, budgets, and job descriptions; interviews and trains personnel; maintains equipment, supplies and services.
Coordinates with local government agencies and non-profit organizations that offer community recreation programs and services to Logan youth; participates in conceptual creation of new programs and services; evaluates and researches emerging trends.
Develops and conducts group presentations, promotes programs and services by coordinating with department staff resources, produces flyers, brochures, and program literature; implements community youth programs and services; oversees community programs and services and evaluates on a regular basis; reports to management on a regular basis regarding programs and services and evaluates on a regular basis; reports to management on a regular basis regarding program performance; identifies and makes applications for grants and other funding through government agencies and private organizations for youth programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of public recreation policies and procedures.
Knowledge of budgeting, planning, program development, evaluation, employee training, and supervision.
Knowledge of public recreation programs, services, activities and special events.
Knowledge in seeking and preparing for grant applications.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff, children, teens, and adults.
Skill in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating comprehensive community youth recreation programs and services.
Knowledge in promoting and implementing services and programs for youth.
Skill in organizing and conducting presentations.
Skill in use of Windows Perfect Office Suite.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Recreation or closely related area AND experience equivalent to three (3) years full-time in recreation programs, activities events, planning/coordination or programs services for youth. Must possess Red Cross Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. Must have a valid Utah Operator's License.
