Training

share
BatesMotelA great deal of care and time goes into training our firefighters and EMS personnel. You may have noticed the large tower near the Logan City Landfill. In 2000 the Logan City Fire Department received a HUD Special Projects Grant to construct a training tower. The grant paid for the original tower and about ten feet of concrete around the tower. Since that time we have added a number of Training Props and concrete to that site including the burn building we affectionately call the "Bates Motel."

This tower is used to train firefighters and rescue personnel. In the tower we train on things like fire ventilation, fire attack, sprinkler systems, standpipes, rope rescue, victim rescue and much more. The tower may be the most noticeable portion of the training facility but this is only the beginning. We also have props that allow us to train for vehicle fires, aircraft firefighting and rescue, flashover, confined spaces, structural collapse, vehicle extrication and much more.

Logan Fire Department has entered into an Inter-local Agreement that was developed so other agencies could take advantage of this facility. These other agencies contribute supplies as needed and have assisted with the continued development of the site. This arrangement has worked well since its inception. Hundreds of firefighters have received training at this facility.
