Park Type: Neighborhood
Park Location: 100 South Main
Park History: Garff Wayside Gardens is a hidden treasure just east of Main Street. The walkway through the park is adorned with many trees, flowers, and native vegetation. Adjacent to the rose garden and gazebo sits a reflecting pool. The Rotary Club built the gazebo which has served as a popular location for weddings. Benches and picnic tables throughout the park provide places for park users to rest, picnic, meditate, or relish in the surrounding beauty.
The park was originally named Bicentennial Park when it was developed in 1976. During Mayor Newel Daines’ administration in 1985, the Cache Knitting Mill building was remodeled and part of the park property was needed for a parking lot. The park was then redeveloped and named Garff Wayside Gardens, in memory of Orson A. Garff (1885-1965) who generously shared the sanctuary of his Wayside Garden with all.
