Business License Division Mission

The mission of the Business License Division is to serve the business licensing needs of the community by providing accurate and timely assistance in a friendly, informative atmosphere.

If you have decided to start a new business, take over as new ownership of an existing business, change location, add a location, or organize an event, the information on this website will assist you.

Step-by-Step B.I.F.A. Program
(Business Information, Forms & Applications)
Start Here

Please feel free to come in or call us with any questions at any time during your application process!

When renewing in person or by mail, send or bring the entire original renewal form with payment.

** ** DON'T FORGET TO SIGN YOUR FORM **

HELPFUL NOTES: You can go through our step-by-step B.I.F.A. program or visit the FAQs or Forms & Applications pages to access forms for the City business license division as well as other departments in the City and in the State. To make that easier:

Determine your business structure: Will you be a sole proprietor, partnership, limited liability company, limited partnership or corporation? You need to know who will be part of your business ownership and in what capacity. Go to http://www.business.utah.gov/ for more information - consult with an attorney or accountant for further advice if necessary.

Establish your location: Your base of operations will be from your home site (residence) or at a commercial site.

New Businesses: Through our B.I.F.A. program, you can access the State's online process, OneStop Business Registration (OSBR), to obtain a business name, set up a business structure, sales tax, employer withholding, federal employer identification number (FEIN or EIN) as well as other State and Federal accounts. If you use the OSBR, be sure to print out the partially-completed City Business License Application PDF form at the end of the process. There is a link in the OSBR that helps you get your FEIN (if needed) from the IRS instantly online, as well.

** Some business types are not eligible to use the OSBR system. **
To find out if you are eligible
CLICK HERE and select "Who can use the online registration system?" from the left menu.

Please contact us for applicable city licensing fees/information.

For City business licensing code, go to City Code and select "Title 5."
