Logan has always been Steve's home. He attended Woodruff Elementary School, Logan Jr. High and Logan High.  He graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Political Science.   During his years at USU he served as Student Body Vice President and Student Body President.

In 1985, Steve founded TAKI Casuals, a company that manufactures custom merchandise.   In 1998, Steve founded On Tour Pictures, a feature film production company.

Steve is a member of the Logan Rotary Club and serves on the Sundance Institute Advisory Board.  He is also a member of Coalition For Utah's Future where he serves on the executive committee. 

Steve has served on the Logan City Council since 1996, twice as chair.  Presently he is a member of the Airport Authority and the Golf Course Advisory Board. 

Steve and his wife Tamara live in Logan's historical district.  Steve enjoys writing, waterskiing, snowskiing and restoring Corvettes.
