RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives, verifies, and enters into appropriate accounts electric utility bill payments and other miscellaneous revenues. Researches and responds to customer inquiries and complaints regarding charges, delinquencies, and deposit refunds. Prepares daily cash drawer summaries and balances monies received. Accurately inputs all transactions and payments into computer database. Operates a computer terminal and other standard office equipment.
Processes a variety of utility service orders such as connect, transfer, and disconnect, including assisting customers in filling out appropriate forms, collecting deposits, and verifying the accuracy of addresses and phone numbers. Explains utility billing policies and procedures to customers. Enters customer information into computer database. Answers questions regarding account status, including making appropriate adjustments when errors are found.
WORK SCHEDULE: Approximately 25-30 hours a week Monday - Friday.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of City of Logan codes/ordinances regarding utility billing.
Knowledge of City of Logan policies and procedures for utility billing.
Knowledge of computer software and hardware used in the City of Logan's utility billing process.
Knowledge of basic customer service principles and techniques.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Co-workers, Supervisor, Department Heads, City Officials, and the public.
Skill in effectively communicating both verbally and in writing.
Skill in responding tactfully and courteously to customer inquiries and complaints.
Skill in operating the computer hardware/software used in the utility billing process.
Skill in interpreting complex statutes, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Skill in entering and retrieving data into/from a computerized database.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a high school graduate and have experience equivalent to one year of full-time public contact or customer service work. Spanish speaking desirable. Must have working knowledge of computer systems.
