RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will construct, maintain, and repair all transmission and distribution electrical systems, both underground and overhead. Operate equipment such as line truck, aerial devices, backhoe, forklift, trencher, overhead cranes, and wire pulling equipment in line construction or repair.
Climb poles to construct, repair or maintain electric line or equipment on live or dead circuits. Troubleshoot, repair and restore electric service due to line faults, isolated customer outages, and other emergencies caused by storms, floods, or accidents.
Train and instruct apprentices in all phases of line work, proper use of tools and to operate and maintain equipment in accordance to safety rules, construction standards and electrical codes. Perform switching and other mechanical duties in substation as required. Test electrical load with special test equipment on primary and secondary circuits. Other duties upon request.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of a standard senior high school or equivalent. Experience equivalent to one (1) year full-time journey level electric line work installing, maintaining, and repairing high voltage overhead/underground transmission, distribution, and service lines; or completion of a recognized Apprentice Lineman Training Program will substitute for the required experience. Must possess a Journey Lineman Certificate through an accredited program such as IBEW or IPSA. Previous experience working for a municipal electrical system is desirable. Applicant must have or be able to obtain a Utah Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Must be able to work the "on call" rotation schedule.
