Downtown Banner Murals

share

This project is designed to capitalize on the construction of a new library and plaza in Downtown Logan and improve the aesthetics of the temporary construction fencing by hanging banner murals along the fencing. The murals are anticipated to be displayed during summer months for the next 2 years, depending on mural condition.

Community Participation
Several of the featured murals were painted with community participation. Zully Davila Amenero's mural was painted at the 2022 Latino Festival, the background of Tanner Stephenson's mural was painted at the Cache Valley Gardeners' Market, Michael Bingham's mural was painted with participation of patrons of Jump the Moon, and portions of Andrea Chamberlain's mural was painted by children in the Cache County School District.

We GROW Here
The concept of this design was to create a collaborative landscape painting with the help of local elementary students of varying abilities, as a way to highlight the theme "Diversity in Community". The mountainscape is a depiction of the Wellsville Mountains which help make up the iconic backdrop of Cache Valley, and the flowers are meant to depict how unique individual differences work together to create a beautiful, thriving whole.

The mural was completed with the help of students at Heritage Elementary School in Nibley, UT, over two painting sessions. The first session involved 5th-grade students working alongside students in the Life Skills classroom (a classroom that supports students with moderate to severe disabilities). The students learned about mixing yellows and blues to create various greens. They used brushes, rollers, and sponges to mix paint and blend a cohesive backdrop. The second session involved solely the students in the Life Skills classroom. They chose from warm colors, and used brushes, sponges, corks, and stamps carved from foam pool noodles to create vibrant flowers around the words "We GROW here".

Over 40 students had a hand in creating this mural! My hope is that it brings joy to those who see it, and a realization and acknowledgment of the beautiful diversity that resides within our community!

Her artwork is at the intersection of landscape, natural elements, and abstraction. As a  plein air painter, she is interested in capturing the world that surrounds us due to her urge to be part of it. Her art aspires to capture the serene solitude that people find in the mountains and Nature.

Vicki's art style is characterized by her use of vibrant colors and whimsical linework. Through her work, Vicki tries to give this unique world a voice so that we can protect it.

Michael Bingham – Jump the Moon
The banner we did at "Jump the Moon" was a real team effort. I believe that more than 60 people contributed to the design.  Among them were quite a few people who come in and use the studio on a regular basis.  We also have groups from Assisted Living centers and other nonprofits like Common Ground, Cache Employment and Training Center, Bear River mental Health, the USU Peer Project, a homeschool group and many others.

About Jump the Moon - As a high school art teacher, our founder Michael J. Bingham experienced the powerful impact and fulfillment the arts brought into the lives of his students, especially those with special needs. For many years, he dreamed of having a big innovative space and the time to explore a variety of new and different art making options that would ennoble everyone to higher levels of creativity, self-expression, and communication. After 7 years of trying, Jump the Moon Foundation was finally established in 2017, officially becoming a nonprofit 501C3 organization, providing assistive art making devices, art mentorship, and creative opportunities for the community.

Courtney Banner Mural - Copy

Courtney Hart
Courtney Hart is a local artist whose work reflects her lifelong passion for classical art and her dedication to bringing beauty and inspiration to public spaces. In college, Courtney studied art history and gained a great appreciation of the works and styles of the great masters. However, it wasn’t until after college that Courtney realized that she needed to do more than just read about artists but become one herself.

Despite never receiving any formal training, Courtney's natural talent and hard work allowed her to develop her own unique style and become an accomplished artist in her own right. She has spent countless hours studying the materials and techniques of the old masters to revive this knowledge in her own work. Her paintings are a celebration of the natural world and the human experience, and her keen eye for detail and composition have earned her a devoted following.

After studying the frescoes that adorn cathedrals and palaces across Europe, Courtney became interested in painting more than just gallery-sized pieces but murals as well. Her careful attention to detail combined with academic techniques of old have resulted in stunning and effusive murals that transform public spaces and inspire viewers of all ages and backgrounds. Her murals can be found in civic centers, government buildings, homeless shelters, boutique businesses, homes and now an airport. These murals serve as a testament to the power of art to uplift and inspire.

Courtney's work has been featured in galleries and exhibitions across the country, and she has received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to the world of art, including the Dennis Klaus Honorary Award and the People’s Choice Award. But it is the joy and fulfillment that she finds in creating art that truly drives her, and she continues to explore new ways to bring her passion for classical techniques and fine art murals to the world.
