Solar on your Home or Business

These are the steps everyone must follow to install Solar PV on their home or business. 

  1. Understand the Distributed Generation Rate and Policy and Fees.  To download, Click Here.
  2. Understand that capacity of installations shall not exceed 10kW  for residential customers (this is generally between 27 and 35 panels, depending on the size of the panels) and 500 kW for commercial or industrial customers. 
  3. Download the application.  Click Here.
  4. Watch the REQURED Logan City Light & Power Customer Orientation by clicking on this link.  Be sure to follow the instructions on the video for reporting that you watched the video.
  5. Make sure your solar provider is NABCEP Certified.  Click Here
  6. Make sure your solar provider has attended the Mandatory Contractor Orientation.
  7. Submit your installation application, your solar permit application, and all supporting documents to:  loganplanreview@loganutah.org

  8. Wait for design review (about 1-2 weeks)
  9. After review, you will be given a "notice to proceed".
  10. When complete, final inspection and commissioning (turning it on).

Things you should know:

  • Logan City no longer charges for the bi-directional meter, it was $300.  All meters are bi-directional now.
  • If your provider is not NABCEP certified, the application will be rejected.
  • Customer must attend Customer Orientation and get a signature in order to submit the application.
  • The provider must attend Provider/Installer Orientation (one time) before application will make it past the design review.
Fees:  
  • $200 for Logan City Building Permit
  • $150 Logan Light and Power design application and review fee. 
  • $30 Power to Panel Upgrade (may not be necessary)
  • $147 for production meter No longer required.
