Assistant Chief Will Lusk
Will Lusk works as an Assistant Fire Chief with the Logan Fire Department. His job includes fire administrative duties, departmental safety coordination, and duties as the Logan City Emergency Manager. He graduated from Utah State University with Bachelor's degrees in Public Health (Industrial Hygiene), and Bio-Veterinary Science with a minor in Chemistry.
He started working for Logan City at the age of 16 with the Parks & Recreation Department as a Zookeeper, and has completed 33 years of service to the city. Part of his time with Logan City included 6 years with the Environmental Department where he had the opportunity to develop the countywide Household Hazardous Waste Collection program at the Logan Landfill.
His fire service career began as a volunteer responding to hazmat calls in 1994 as a science team member with the Cache County Hazmat Response Team. He joined the fire service officially in January 1999 as a volunteer with the Wellsville Fire Department where he currently still volunteers as a line firefighter. On January 1, 2008 he joined the Logan City fire Department full time. He has continued to respond over the years with the Cache County Hazmat Task Force, and currently serves as Task Force Leader. He served 4 years as a Co-Chair of the Utah Northern Region Hazmat Response group.
His involvement in emergency management began in 1996 where he worked in the Logan City Safety Department as the Assistant Emergency Manager. In 2005 he received the opportunity to take over the reins as Logan City Emergency Manager. He is a graduate of both the Professional Development Series and the Advanced Professional Series in Emergency Management from the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) in Emmitsburg Maryland. He received the Emergency Management Peer Recognition award in 2007 from the Utah Division of Emergency Management. He is an active member of the Utah Emergency Management Association (UEMA) where he has served on the association board as a Member-at-Large and currently serves as Treasurer. He also currently serves as a member on the Utah State Lt. Governor's Emergency Management Advisory Council.
