Home Government Mayor's Office Elections Council Candidates Richard Steele
My name is Richard Steele and I am running for an open seat on the Logan Municipal Council this November.
I have lived in Logan for thirty-five years and, together with my wife Karen, have raised our children in this community. After graduating from Utah State University with a BS in Landscape Architecture I opened Site Design Associates ( a professional site design firm), and later, The True Aggie Cafe (a soup and sandwich shop) previously located at 135 North Main Street.
I served on the Logan City Neighborhood Council as the representative for the Wilson Neighborhood for three and a half years. The Neighborhood Council is a volunteer group that operates in the role of advocate for public concerns. We gather concerns from the public in all areas of the city and take those concerns to the Mayor and Municipal Council in an attempt to make the city aware of public concerns, and to resolve those issues in a timely manner.
During my time on the Neighborhood Council, I had many opportunities to address the Mayor and Municipal Council with recommendations from the Neighborhood Council regarding Logan's development. Issues discussed included: Logan's ongoing traffic congestion problems; High density housing developments; Neighborhood/University student parking issues; Protection of Logan neighborhoods from disruptive developments; Winter air inversions; and Citizen input regarding Logan's future development.
As a member of the Municipal Council it will be my priority to protect residential neighborhoods from the encroachment of disruptive development. Together we will strive to make Logan a wonderful community in which to raise our families and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us here in Cache Valley.
I would appreciate your vote in the Primary election in August and in the General election in November.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Richard Steele
