Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of solid waste collection trucks. Will be responsible for recycling and refuse collections. Will insure that the assigned collection route is completed in an efficient, timely, and safe manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for routine maintenance of the collection trucks, cleaning, and conduct pre and post trip inspections, etc. on a daily basis. Must be able to demonstrate ability to safely and effectively operate various truck controls, operating skills, depth perception, and physical motor skills while operating large garbage collection trucks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS:
Must be able to operate controls of vehicle, repeatedly using wrists and hands. Ability to work in extreme hot or cold environmental conditions. Must be capable of lifting in excess of 75 pounds without adverse consequences. Must be able to climb in and out of vehicle repeatedly. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish satisfactory working relationships with fellow employees and the general public. Requires weekend and holiday work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of a standard senior high school or equivalent; and experience equivalent to two (2) years full-time driving and maintenance work involving the operation of medium to large sized equipment. Must provide a copy of state driver's license record. Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred. Will consider helping to acquire a CDL License. Previous experience operating commercial equipment in congested areas is highly desirable. Successful applicants may be required to complete a driving test and must have a safe driving record.
